AIOFM Receives A Funding to Deepen Cooperation with Synchrotron SOLEIL
Date: 2017/09/15 Author: ZHANG Yang

Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) has received a funding from 2018 International Partnership Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences which is funded by bureau of International Co-operation, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The purpose of the international Partnership Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences is to carry out substantive cooperation around the specific scientific issues and get the major scientific and technological achievements with first-class scientific research institutions and international organizations (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions) in the form of "Seed Funding". The project supports 30 projects every year with 3 years period and 1 million Yuan.

The AIOFM’s international cooperation project "Reaction dynamics of peroxy radicals probed with synchrotron photoionization facility" will deepen cooperation with Synchrotron SOLEIL on the chemical reactions of peroxy radicals.

The principal investigator of the project is Associated Prof. TANG Xiaofeng, a young researcher from AIOFM, and the international cooperation researcher is Dr. Laurent Nahon, the director of the DESIRS beamline of Synchrotron SOLEIL and the professor of, University Paris-Sacaly, France. Synchrotron SOLEIL is the French third generation synchrotron facility and locates at the south of Paris, whose performances are in the forefront of similar devices around the world.

Peroxy radicals are the key intermediates and play essential roles in atmospheric reactions. The purpose of the present project is to understand the reaction mechanism of peroxy radicals and help to reveal the source of the secondary pollutants, expecting to make a major scientific breakthrough in the cause of atmospheric pollution.

In recent years, AIOFM has established a nicely international cooperation with Synchrotron SOLEIL. As a fixed user of Synchrotron SOLEIL, Prof. Tang has been to France to carry out experimental studies for several times. Up to now, they have already published a series of papers in the international journals of Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., J. Phys. Chem. A, and Rev. Sci. Instrum. et al.
