AIOFM Plays A Part in Ensuring SCO BLUE
Date: 2018/07/13 Author: CHEN Zhenyi

Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (or AIOFM) was invited to take a part in air quality assurance action during the 2018 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit (SCO) which was held June 9 to June 10 in Qingdao, China.

In the preparing phase, the team established, differential Absorption Lidar (DIAL) observation network to closely watch ozone transmission in the early summer during the event as well as to focus on spatial and temporal distribution and transmission of ozone pollutants in Qingdao.

In terms of particulate matter (PM2.5), widely-used Mie lidar was also set up for the vertical profiles of particulates.

Specifically, DIAL network were implemented to grasp the conditions of major transmission channels in surrounding regions of Qingdao. Observation network and pollution tracking systems successively worked from May 31 to June 12.

Now, the research team of AIOFM is analyzing the data and trying to offer important scientific reports for the government’s management and evaluation of control effect.

At present, the three-dimensional detection technology system of atmospheric environment was independently developed by AIOFM and became the main technical backbone through industrialization platform of Wuxi CAS Photonics Co., Ltd in this action.
