One of CASHIPS's defining characteristics is its small, residential community that extends a wealth of academic and extracurricular opportunities for graduate students. Nearly all of the CASHIPS's  graduate students live on campus. The CASHIPS also offers housing and dining programs for faculty and staff.

There also are a wide variety of dining options. Graduate students,faculty and staff ,juniors and seniors can take meals at the eating clubs, student food cooperatives and other locations.
