5th International Conference on Nuclear and Renewable Energy Resources (NURER) hosted by Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology (INEST), Chinese Academy of Sciences was successfully held in the Hefei Science Island on 18-21 September, 2016. More than 200 experts and scholars who are from the United States, European Union, Japan, South Korea and more than other 20 countries attended the conference.
The representatives from Generation IV Forum (GIF), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), Chinese Academy of Engineering, China International Nuclear Fusion Energy Program Execution Center, Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology. FDS Team, Energy Research Institute National Development and Reform Commission, American Nuclear Association, Japan Atomic Energy Agency, and other organizations give academic presentations.
The participants discussed in depth about the development of lead-based reactor and nuclear fusion energy, bio oil refining and bio fuel production, solar power generation and energy storage and other aspects. In order to response to global climate change, vigorously developing nuclear and renewable energy resources has become a broad consensus in the conference.
Nuclear and renewable energy resources have unique advantage in terms of emission reduction and environmental protection compared with the traditional fossil energy. Under the energy policy of "capacity reduction and structure adjust", the development of nuclear and renewable energy has been placed in a more important strategic position in China.
NURER is currently the only international academic conference, with the major topics focus on the development of new energy resources (including nuclear energy, renewable energy) , and has an important impact around the world. This is the first time that NURER held in China in the past four times, and it provides a good platform for the experts and scholars to exchange the latest research progress and promote international cooperation. Recent world energy policy, industrial strategy, key technology development is the hot topics of the conference.
The conference was also supported by the American Nuclear Society (ANS), Society of Reactor Physics and Nuclear Material, Chinese Nuclear Physical Society, China Nation Solar Thermal Energy Alliance, and other agencies.
