5th ISALSaRS'17 Co-hosted by AIOFM and USTC
Date: 2017/06/28 Author: ZHANG Zihan

5th International Symposium on Atmospheric Light Scattering and Remote Sensing (ISALSaRS’17) co-hosted by University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Composition and Optical Radiation, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) and Anhui meteorological society was successfully held in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, China during 19-23 June, 2017.

The ISALSaRS is held every two years for a period of 5 days in the form of presentation and discussion focusing on light scattering and remote sensing for atmospheric parameters, specifically included active and passive remote sensing techniques of the atmosphere, ocean and land, in-situ measurements of atmospheric components, new development of ground radar detection technology and method. Prof. WANG Yingjian of AIOFM was the co-chair of the conference.

The representatives from NASA Langley Research Center, Canadian climate simulation and Analysis Center, Japan National Institute for Environmental Studies, Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth Sciences, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Texas A & M University, Japan Nagasaki University, Kyung Hee University, Xi'an University of technology, Lanzhou University, Zhejiang University, WuHan University, Beifang Univesity of Nationality, University of Science & Technology China, and other organizations give academic presentations.

As one of the organizers, the research of the Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Composition and Optical Radiation (LACOR), CAS, has attracted wide attention of experts. Prof. XIE Chenbo and Prof. WU Decheng were invited to report "Study on the Vertical Profile of Optical Properties of Atmospheric Aerosol at APEC Meeting by Using Raman Radar" and "Development and preliminary results of multi - functional airborne Raman radar".

And Prof. LUO Tao, Prof. WANG Zhenzhu and Postgraduate ZHENG Jianyu made an oral report, the subjects of the reports are "Retrieving Global Boundary Layer Structure Using Satellite Data", "Study on Vertical Distribution of Aerosols in Boundary Layer by Lateral Scattering Radar" and "Study on the climatic characteristics of deep convective beam using satellite data".

Their report more systematically introduced the latest scientific research of the key laboratory in the field of atmospheric light scattering, telemetry technology in recent years. Published poster also attracted the attention of the participants. ZHENG Jianyu, ZHANG Wenzhong of the key laboratory awarded the excellent oral report award and excellent poster award in the final selection of the General Assembly.

The ISALSaRS has been held since 2009 and developed for 9 years with a high impact both at home and abroad. It has far-reaching significance for the development of atmospheric light scattering and remote sensing, and has become a representative international academic conference in this field.
