AIOFM Scientists Develop Multiple-Gas Composition Monitoring System
Date: 2018/05/16 Author: QIN Min, CHEN Zhenyi

Chinese scientists completed an effective Multiple-Gas Composition Monitoring System, which was developed to target at Chemical Industry Park.

Scientists with Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM), Hefei Institutes of Physical Science led the study and independently developed the system.

Polluted gas and its related emission, has become a great threat to the air quality of China for a long time, especially in the country’s some Chemical Industry Park.

However, there is still few available overall systematic study of targeted gas, such as VOC, NH3, due to the drawbacks of conventional gas measurement methods.

Thanks to their efforts, XIE Pinhua's research group with AIOFM has made several achievements in multiple key technologies to provide reliable technological means for polluted gas and emission monitoring.

The system, they have completed, consists of an open optical path monitoring system for VOCs with a portable ultravilet/infrared analyzer and a pollution gas distribution/emission flux mobile remote-measuring system.

It could be used for real-time classification and measurement of various pollutant emission (ie VOCs, NH3, NOx, SO2, etc.)

Furthermore, the online system greatly simplifies the conventional polluted gas measuring method, reduces the cost of environment monitoring, improves the trace gas monitoring ability of environment monitoring department, as well as provides a powerful equipment and technological support for the early warning of mission pollution in Chemical Industry Parks.
