Date: 2016/05/25 Author: WANG Zhenzhu

On March 25th, Prof. RAO Ruizhong, deputy director of in Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (AIOFM) met Prof. Anatoli Borovoi and his team in AIOFM, Hefei.

Prof. Anatoli Borovoi is awarded as a Visiting Fellow under CAS (President’s International Fellowship Initiative) PIFI Program in 2016. He is from V.E. Zuev Institute of Atmospheric Optics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS), Tomsk, Russia. Two sides exchanged opinions on the future cooperation in research and academic exchange.

Prof. Anatoli Borovoi is a specialist in the fields of the atmospheric and ocean optics, especially the theory of light scattering by particles and the theory of wave propagation in random media. He has won the deep achievements on Lidar study of cirrus clouds in theory and experiment and now leads an outstanding team for theory of light scattering.

During the visit, Prof. Anatoli Borovoi discussed the technique details in detecting of atmospheric aerosols and clouds by use of lidars with the Lidar group of AIOFM, and he also gave some advices on the related projects carried out.

Prof. Anatoli Borovoi gave a lecture entitled Light scattering by cirrus clouds, which including the latest progresses on Light scattering by cirrus clouds in theory and experiment.
