Prof. WANG Leyu Invited to Give An Academic Report at Innovation Forum of Institute of Intelligent Machines
Date: 2018/05/28 Author: LIU Bianhua

Prof. WANG Leyu from Beijing University of Chemical Technology was invited to visit the Institute of Intelligent Machines on May 18, 2018.

During the visit, he delivered an academic report entitled "Construction and Analytical application of Nanoprobe with High SNR" at the Innovation Forum which was presided over by Prof. ZHANG Zhongping.

Prof. WANG firstly introduced some applications of semiconductor nanocrystals as fluorescent biological probes, and he proposed that analytical chemistry currently faces the challenges of low content of analytical target, complex samples, and high background.

WANG thought that it was necessary to enhance the sensitivity and selectivity of the analytical methods, and since nanoprobes had advantages of small size, large surface area, high sensitivity and adjustable performance, researchers could increase the signal of probes and reduce the noise to build new nanoprobes.

Then, he introduced the application of up-conversion luminescence and photothermal nuclear magnetic resonance in detail around his group's research.

In addition, the luminescence mechanism of down-conversion luminescence, up-conversion luminescence, two-photon luminescence and quantum dot luminescence was further elaborated.

He emphasized that up-conversion luminescence possesses a good application prospect that the electron luminescence can be excited by low energy during upconverting luminescence.

In the presentation, WANG also shared the experiences in the scientific research with the teachers and students at the forum and conducted interactive communication. Teachers and students attending the report said they had benefited a lot.

Prof. WANG Leyu, is enrolled in New Century Excellent Talents of Ministry of Education and the winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. In 1997, he graduated from Department of Chemistry, Anhui Normal University and taught there.

In July 2007, he graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University and received his doctor degree. In August of that year, he went to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for postdoctoral research. In October 2009, he joined the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resources Engineering of Faculty of science, Beijing University of Chemical Technology as professor and doctoral tutor.

He mainly focuses on the design and synthesis of high-performance inorganic nanocrystals and their application in catalysis, energy, biochemical sensing and imaging analysis. He has published more than 120 papers recorded by SCI, including Angew Chem Int Ed, Nat Commun, Adv Mater, Nano Lett, Anal Chem, ACS Nano and Small etc. His papers have been cited by other researchers for more than 3,700 times, and the related technologies of his work has been authorized more than 20 Chinese invention patents.
