As one of the five great scientific and technological inventions in 21st century, superconductivity, because of its advantages of zero resistance, no loss, large current and high field intensity, plays an irreplaceable role in the research of large-scale scientific facility, the quality improvement of electric system, biomedical imaging, transportation improvement, and environment management and improvement, etc, which have promoted scientific and technological progress. The ongoing researches in the division focus on the development of applied superconductivity technology including the research of manufacture technology for large CICC(Cable-In-Conduit Conductor), the manufacture of large superconducting magnet, the experiment and performance evaluation of superconducting magnet and assessment of analysis for safe operation of EAST. The primary projects proceeded in the division are ITER(International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) TF, PF and CC & Feeder procurements, Manufacture of ITER In-Vessel Coil, and CFETR(China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor) CS Superconductor Model Coil.
