Dr. CHU Yannan, Professor, director of Laboratory of Medical Optical and Mass Spectrometry, associate director of Center of Medical Physics and Technology, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 

Education background:

1986 B.S., Anqing Normal College

1991 M.S., Anhui Institute of Optics & Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) of CAS

2003 Ph.D., Anhui Institute of Optics & Fine Mechanics (AIOFM), CAS.

 

Work experiences:

1991-2012 Laboratory of Environmental Spectroscopy, AIOFM, CAS.

2012-now Center of Medical Physics and Technology, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, CAS.

 

Dr. Chu ever visited Innsbruck University in Austria, Keele University in England and Comenius University in Slovakia.

 

Projects and achievements:

Dr. Chu undertook some projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), National Science and Technology Program, National Science and Technology Support Program, the CAS Knowledge Innovation Program, CAS Instrument Development Program, Anhui Province Outstanding Youth Fund, joint program between CAS and the Royal Society as well as China-Slovakia governmental science and technology cooperation. There are more than 30 students for M.S. and Ph.D. graduated in the laboratory. Dr. Chu had over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and won the Natural Scientific Award of Chinese Academy of Science.

The instruments or platforms in Dr. Chu's laboratory mainly include: homemade proton transfer reaction mass spectrometer (PTR-MS: PTR-QMS and PTR-TOFMS), on-line breath test mass spectrometer, non-radioactive ion mobility spectrometer, ion mobility-mass spectrometry experimental apparatus and optical spectral detection device for heavy metal, as well as standard desktop and handheld ion mobility spectrometry detectors, gas/liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometer (GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS), liquid chromatography-time of flight mass spectrometer / quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometer (LC-TOF-MS and LC-q-TOF-MS), calorimeter, etc.

 

Research Field:

Optical and mass spectrometry:the interesting fields mainly include reaction dynamics of ion, electron, photon and molecule, new technique development in mass spectrometry, ion mobility spectrometry and optical spectrum, as well as their applications in medicine, environment and public safety.
