Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology (INEST), Chinese Academy of Sciences was founded in September 2011 based on the advanced nuclear energy research team, i.e. FDS Team. INEST is the professional institute focusing on fundamental research of nuclear energy safety. It is also the independent nuclear safety assessment and evaluation center with the aim of promoting the sustainable development of nuclear science and technology.

INEST is benefited for the combination of good resources from both Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASHIPS) and  University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and is now supported by the Strategic Priority Research Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences “the Future Advanced Nuclear Fission Energy – ADS transmutation system”, the ITER related domestic project “Fusion Nuclear Safety and Protection Technology”, and many domestic nuclear safety projects.

Its main research areas are Neutronics and Critical Safety, Nuclear Materials and Component Safety, Nuclear Thermal-Hydraulics and Accident, Nuclear Software and Simulation, Nuclear Energy Chemistry Safety, Nuclear Emergency and Culture etc. (more)
