At the invitation of Dr. G.G.Matvienko from The Institute of Atmospheric Optics (IAO) SB RAS, Professor Yingjian Wang, director of Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, and 10 other scientists from Anhui Institute of Optics and Fines Mechanics, visited The Institute of Atmospheric Optics (IAO) SB RAS from August 11th to 19th, 2009. The Chinese scientists received cordial hospitality and warm welcome from the Russian host. The academic communication and idea exchanging between the scientists of both countries were carried out fruitfully. The expected results of this visiting were achieved.
The Institute of Atmospheric Optics (IAO) SB RAS is one of the best world renown research institutes in the field of Atmospheric Optics. It was founded in 1969 based on the Laboratory of Infrared Radiations of the Siberian Physical technical institute at the Tomsk State University. There are more than 500 staffs in IAO, including two corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, over 30 doctors of science, and about 100 candidates of science. Major research interests include, atmospheric optics and spectroscopy, propagation of optical radiation in the atmosphere, optoelectronic systems and technologies of environmental research. IAO has research divisions of optical diagnostics of the environment, atmospheric spectroscopy, remote sensing, sharing computer center and the center of integrated information systems. Since 1998, the IAO has been headed by the Honored Scientist of Russian Federation, Professor Gennadii Grigor’evich Matvienko.
Since both sides share some common research interests and each has its own advantages, the group members had extensive exchange of ideas and in-depth discussion with the Russian partners. During the visit, scientists from both countries gave more than 20 seminars or talks. Upon the academic exchange, topic discussion, laboratory visits, field observation station visiting etc., scientists from both country enhanced mutual understanding, deepened friendship, reached consensus on further collaboration in the future.
In warm and friendly atmosphere, Director Yingjian Wang and Director G.G.Matvienko represented both sides and signed an scientific cooperation agreement between Anhui Institute of Optics and Fines Mechanics and The Institute of Atmospheric Optics (IAO) SB RAS. Under this cooperation agreement, both sides will carry out substantive cooperation in scientists exchange, research collaboration, information sharing, and conducting symposiums. On the basis of the agreement, Dr. Ruizhong Rao, the deputy director of Anhui Institute of Optics and Fines Mechanics, and Director G.G.Matvienko, signed the concrete operation program between Anhui Institute of Optics and Fines Mechanics and The Institute of Atmospheric Optics (IAO) SB RAS for 2009-2010.
