The 9th Asia-Pacific Conference on Plasma Science and Technology (APCPST) and 21st Symposium on Plasma Science for Materials (SPSM) has been successfully held in Huangshan city from Oct. 8th to 11th.
This conference holds biennially to survey the progress and exchange ideas in the field of low-temperature (thermal and non-equilibrium) plasmas. This year, the number of participants home and abroad totals 251, including 99 foreign attendants mainly from Japan, Korea, America, Australia, Canada, France, Russia, India and other countries and areas.
Presided over by Prof Li Jiangang, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Director of Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Opening Session began with a a welcome speech, given by Vice Mayor of Huangshan City, Mr Su Yang. Mr Su extended a warm welcome to all participants, and wished them a pleasant stay with beautiful Mt Huangshan, delicious Hui cuisine and distinct local Hui Culture. Conference Chairman, Academician Prof Wu Chengkang, Institute of Mechanics (IMECH), CAS presented a brief overview of the conference organization.
Plenary meeting, sub-meeting and post section are included in this conference. The conference received 285 abstracts. There’re 6 plenary, 21 invited, 28 oral presentations and 229 postors.
This four-day long conference offered a platform to all the participants to exchange ideas and experiences with one another. Staffs and students from ASIPP took part in this conference and discussed with other participants.
At the conference banquet, Academician Prof Wu Chengkang gave an exciting and vivid speech. Prof Wu introduced the history of APCPST, stressed the importance of this conference and at the same time announced the next conference will be held in Korea. (Wang Yuan reports)
