The High Magnetic Field Laboratory, CAS, (CHMFL) held the first International Advisory Committee (IAC) meeting on Dec. 15th to 17th,2009 at Hefei.
Ten senior and lead scientists from United States, France, Germany, and Korea, attended the conference as the CHMFL International Advisory Committee members.
The conference was chaired by Dr. Gang Cao, professor and director of Advanced Materials Research Center, University of Kentucky. During the opening ceremony, Dr. Kuang Guangli, the director of CHMFL, issued appointments letters to the CHMFL International Advisory Committee members.
Scientists from CHMFL presented a series scientific reports, including:
“The progress report of the national mega-science project of steady- field magnets”, by Dr. GAO Bingjun, the Chief engineer of CHMFL;
“Progress report of the measuring system at high magnetic field”, by Dr. QU Zhe;
“Design of scanning probe microscopes in 20T”, by Dr. LU Qingyou.
“The Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Program at CHMFL”, by Dr. WANG Junfeng.
Afterward, IAC members had in-depth discussion with scientists from CHMFL on topics related with the presentations. IAC members also reported their recent research progresses related with high magnetic field. They made pertinent observations and recommendations to the construction progress and future scientific research at CHMFL. The meeting also agreed that next CHMFL IAC meeting will be held in the end of October, 2010.
