Dr LUO Yi, The director of Chinese Environmental Monitoring Center, and vice director WANG Yeyao, inspected Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) on March 29th.

The inspection tour was accompanied by Dr. LIU Wenqing and Dr.Liu Jianguo, the director and vice director of AIOFM respectively. They visited the Key Laboratory of Environmental Protection and Environmental Optical monitoring technology, and Dr. XIE Pin-Hua, the director of the Key Laboratory, reported their progresses in developing optical monitoring techniques. Luo Yi expressed great interest in the techniques developed by key laboratory, including the differential absorption spectroscopy detection equipment for detecting the vertical distribution of air pollution, emergency monitoring equipment for mine gas leakage, heavy metals monitoring in soil and on-line monitoring technology of algae. He gave a strong endorsement for AIOFM’s achievements on cutting-edge research, Independent R & D of monitoring technic, and industrialization of technologies.

In the forum discussion after the inspection tour, Luo Yi briefly introduced the State "Twelve Five-Year"Plan and its demand on environmental monitoring technologies and Regular operation equipments. He proposed to take the technological advantages in AIOFM, further strengthen and deepen the strategic and cooperative relations between Chinese Environment Monitoring Center and AIOFM. Leaders from both sides reached a consensus in the joint development of new technologies for environmental monitoring, operational applications of monitoring techniques, technical specifications, as well as regular academic exchanges, and joint-training of graduate students.
