May 15th was the first day of the “2010 National Science Week” as well as the “6th Academy Open Day” by CAS. Being an important component of this event, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science（CASHIPS）and Modern Science Museum were open to public on May 15th, 2010. The theme for this year’s event was "green energy, low-carbon life ". An opening ceremony of the National Science Education Base was Held in Modern Science Museum.

After the opening ceremony, many visitors signed on the Signature Panel of ‘Low-carbon life is up to me’. The "green energy, low-carbon life" feature panels located in the square outside the Modern Science Museum. Visitors accumulated in front of the panels and read the introductions with great interests. Volunteers warmly receive the continuous stream of visitors. The exhibits find special favors among Young students and children.

The laboratory of micro-structure at Hefei Institute of Solid State Physics, carried out synchronous opening. Most of the visitors were from colleges and high schools. The volunteers introduced them of the on-going scientific researches in the lab, experimental facilities and the working mechanism of many instruments.

During this two-day event of ‘Academy Open Day’, CASHIPS received over 2500 visitors.
