The 8th WMO International Radiosonde Comparison took place in Yangjiang, Guangdong , China. This is the first time for China to host such a large-scale international high-precision meteorological sounding instrument comparison.

Invited by Chinese Meteorological Administration,a micro-pulse Lidar device invented by Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) attended the ground-supporting remote sensing experiment held by the Detection center.  This micro-pulse Lidar device took on the task of data analysis and technical support during the comparison, and worked uninterruptedly during the test to ensure the successful completion of the test and get a good test results.

Micro-pulse Lidar is used to detect the spatial distribution of aerosol, and analyze the influence of aerosol on sounding. It possesses the vertical scanning mode, and can obtain the vertical structure property of the upper air above the observed region.
