The steady-state 250KW 4.6GHz microwave test bench developed by ASIPP after two years' efforts was acclaimed "excellent" by the experts from USA and Germany during its performance test.
According to the test results, the average power density of this high power microwave test bench reaches 14.78KW/cm2, of world advanced level at 4.6GHz. It is a great leap forward in terms of power from the silimar facilities in China, whose powers average a few dozens of kilowatts. Compared with other similar facilities in the world, ASIPP microwave test bench can not only test klystron with matched load, but also high power microwave components under various standing waves and in full power full reflection condition.
The continous wave high power microwave test bench is an important test device for conducting lower hybrid current drive research on tokamaks. Its construction has laid a sound know-how and manpower basis for the R&D of EAST 4.6GHz/6MW lower hybrid current drive system (LHCD) — a three-year EAST auxiliary heating system project as well as for ITER LHCD.
