Researchers from the Key Laboratory of Novel Thin Film Solar Cells , CAS (DSC lab) published a new method to prepare SnSe2 quantum dots (QDs) on TiO2 nanocrystalline porous films online at the Journal of “Chemical Communications” (DOI: 10.1039/c2cc17081g) on Feb 24th, 2012. In this study, N2H4–molecular metal chalcogenide (MCC) served as precursors for QDs in quantum dots sensitized solar cells, which combines the benefit of high coverage of QDs on oxide with the advantage of linker-free, direct contact between QDs and oxide.
Under the financial support from major-scientific-issue-orientated project of National Basic Research Program (973 program), the research on quantum dot heterojunction solar cells, quantum dot sensitized solar cell and other new concept of solar cells have been undertaken in DSC lab. The investigation on the charge transport mechanism of CdS/CdSe quantum dots sensitized solar cells and the MCCs as the precursors has also been made in the last year. Up to now, the research of Cu2S based counter electrode prepared with MCC precursors is just ongoing.
