Andrea Garofalo, a scientist and science manager at General Atomics, USA is awarded the Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The certificate signed by Bai Chunli, CAS President, was presented to Andrea Garofalo by Li Jiangang, ASIPP Director on March 27. Garofalo said that he was very happy to be “a member of ASIPP team”.
During his visit, Garofalo was invited to give a talk titled A Fusion Nuclear Science Facility for a Fast-track Path to DEMO at ASIPP Professor Forum as his debut as a Visiting Professor.
According to his preliminary plan, Garofalo will conduct the research with ASIPP colleagues on EAST experiment for at least four months in the coming two years. As a co-leader of a multi-institutional US DOE project for collaborative research on EAST, Garofalo believes there will be more cooperation between EAST and DIIID, Demo-facing Fusion Nuclear Science Facility in the USA and CFETR in future.
