The third DOE-CAS Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting, co-chaired by XU Ruiming, DG, Bureau of Frontier Science and Education, CAS and Edmund Synakowski, Associate Director for Fusion Energy Sciences, DOE, was held on June 30 – July 1 in ASIPP, Hefei, China. Officials from Bureau of International Cooperation, CAS, directors from Institute of High Energy Physics, Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, National Center for Nano-science & Tech, Institute of Modern Physics, CAS attended the meeting.
As the local host and a participant, LI Jiangang, ASIPP director, extended a warm welcome to participants from two countries.
Center on high energy, fusion, nuclear physics and basic physics, two sides reviewed the research and cooperation progress in the meeting. They put forward the future work plan and collaboration methods, and explored the cooperation opportunities and possibilities.
Both parties highly commended this cooperation mechanism. At the same time, they expressed the wishes to expand bilateral cooperation areas and channels, give full play to the initiative and enthusiasm of scientists in two countries and DOE-CAS JCC platform, to contribute to the development of energy and related sciences.
After the meeting, accompanied by Prof Li, DOE officials visited EAST and its sub-systems, ITER CICC and CC workshops.
