Alexander Goncharov, a research fellow in Hefei Institutes of Physical Science Chinese Academy of Scieces(CASHIPS), Institute of Solid State Physics(ISSP), was presented with The 2015 People's Republic of China Friendship Awardon September 29th, 2015. Vice Premier Ma Kai issued the award to Alexander Goncharov and other foreign experts.

On the eve of the National Day of China, a grand award ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People.Premier Li Keqiang presented and met with the Friendship Award winners.The Friendship Award is the People's Republic of China's highest award to commend foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's economic and social progress.This year, totally 50 foreign experts from 21 countries won the great award.

Alexander Goncharov was honored People's Republic of China Friendship Award

Prof. Alexander Goncharov has been conferred the Letter of Appointment of the CAS Visiting Professor on July 19th, 2012 in CASHIPS. Since then, as one of the key person of Center for Energy Matter in Extreme Environments (CEMEE) of ISSP, he pursues his career at ISSP. With his great help, CEMEE research team made several achievements in researches of materials and minerals under extreme conditions (high pressures, variable temperatures). After 3 years construction, CEMEE as the important part of ISSP has completed an experimental platform to study energy matter at extreme conditions. It is comprised of a multitude of probing capabilities of the physical nature of energy matter in extreme environments including ultrahigh pressures, extreme low and high temperatures, and high magnetic field. In the future, the research platform will make CEMEE to become a world class research center for quantum and energy matter at extreme conditions.

People's Republic of China Friendship Award:

It’s the highest award to commend foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's economic and social progress.Every year, 50 foreign experts are selected for the Friendship Award, while 100 at certain anniversary celebrations. From 1991 to 2014, a total of 1,399 foreign experts from 68 countries and regions have received this award. They work in fields like industry, agriculture, energy, environmental protection, education, science and technology, medical treatment and public health, and culture and sports.
