Recently, Bureau of International Cooperation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, issued "About the second batch of Chinese Academy of Sciences" Distinguished Fellow of Foreign Experts Scheme 2009 "project notice". Professors Herschel Rabitz from Department of Chemistry, Princeton University, will be sponsored by the program. Dr. Rabitz was recommended by the Institute of Intelligent Machines (IIM). This is the first time that foreign experts recommended by IIM obtain funding since Chinese Academy of Sciences launched the "foreign experts Distinguished Research Fellow Scheme".
Professors Herschel Rabitz was former Head of the Department of Chemistry at Princeton University. His research focuses on quantum control and his main academic achievements include:
-- establishing of basic theoretical foundation of quantum control phenomena;
-- designing closed-loop feedback protocol, which has been widely used in the field;
-- proposing high-dimensional model for high-dimensional mathematical problems which involved in a large number of scientific and engineering projects;
Professor Rabitz published over 800 papers, including many on top scientific Journals like Science, Nature, and Physical Review Letters. He was granted the "Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Award", "Lamb Award for Laser Science and Quantum Optics", "genetic algorithm Gold Award" and other internationally recognized academic awards.
