A ceremony was held at Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CASHIPS)on December 9th, 2009, for appointing three foreign scientists to be the Distinguished Senior Fellows of Chinese Academy of Sciences.LV Yong-Long , the director of International Cooperation Bureau of Chinese Academy of Sciences presented the three experts the Distinguished Fellow certificates, which were signed by CAS President LV Yongxiang.
So far, Six foreign scientists have been hired as Distinguished Senior Fellows of CASHIPS in 2009. The three appointed scientists attending the ceremony were:
Dr. Irina Schweigert, the Director and Chief Scientist of Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences;
Dr. Bruce Brandt, the former director of Operations and Instrumentation at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), United States of America;
Dr. Herschel Rabitz, professor in Department of Chemistry, Princeton University.
They will carry out collaborative researches at CASHIPS for 2 months to a year and the projects will be sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Other attendees to the ceremony include leaders from Chinese Academy of Sciences International Cooperation Bureau, leaders from CASHIPS, and CASHIPS scientists who will involve in the collaborative researches with three Distinguished Senior Fellows.
