Test Blanket Module (TBM) technology is an essential technology for fusion application. Professor S. Konishi is a world renowned scientist in the field of IAEA fusion reactor and is a pioneer in liquid lithium TBM studies of Japan. He is currently the chairman of the ITER TBM Planning Commission, which involves all seven ITER members.

Dr. LI Jiangang, the director of ASIPP, met with Dr. S. Konishi. They discussed about the future cooperation between China and Japan in the field of fusion energy. Professor S. Konishi also talked with Dr. WU Yican, the deputy director of ASIPP, and other members of the FDS team members.

At the meeting, Professor S. Konishi and other Japanese scientists described their recent research progresses, and had in-depth discussion with the FDS team on various subjects such as mixed reactor designs, LiPb circuit devices, and SiC composite material devices. Dr. WU Yi-can gave the guests a general introduction about ASIPP and hoped to establish various forms of cooperation in the relevant research areas. Later, S. Konishi, Professor and his entourage visited the EAST device and the cladding materials and high-temperature liquid alloy loop laboratory, and the visitors showed full recognition and appreciation of the progress of ASIPP.
