Scientists from Monash University, Australia visited IIM

Recently,Professor Vincent CS Lee and Senior Lecturer, Dr.YEN Cheung from the Clayton School of Information Technology, Monash University, Australia, visited IIM and was invited to present at the IIM Innovation Forum. Professor Vincent CS Lee gave a seminar entitled “Research opportunities and two selected projects of evolutionary and machine learning projects”, and Dr.YEN Cheung presented a talk entitled “A Case of Sharing Competences via a Collaborative Digital Network”.

 Dr. Lee first provided an overview about the research and grant application opportunities in Australia. Then he introduced two research projects in his lab: 1) Modeling and simulation of risk-based cultural fit using Multi-agent co-evolution techniques for collaborative enterprise network.  2) Information retrieval using intelligent techniques from short text messages (twitter).  In Dr. Dr Yen Cheung’s talk, she introduced the West Midlands Collaborative Commerce Marketplace (WMCCM, http://www.wmccm.com), which was implemented basing on a Collaborative Digital Network (CDN). Such a breeding environment enables stakeholders to innovate and gain competitive advantage in the global market. 

 After the seminar, the IIM Intelligent Information Systems Research Center organized a panel discussion with Dr. Lee and Dr. Cheung. IMM scientists had in-depth exchanges and discussions with the visiting scholars on many subjects like machine learning, intelligent business systems.
