Prof. JIN Yaochu from University of Surrey, England, was invited to give a speech at Institute of Intelligent Machines, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences on October 26th, 2010. The title of the speech was: A Systematic Approach to Evolutionary Aerodynamic Design Optimization. Prof. SHUANG Feng presided at the Innovation Forum
Prof. JIN first gave an general introduction on how to apply the widely used algorithms, EAs, to complex real-world multi-objectives optimization problems, and discussed a few major challenges in applying EAs to complex structural optimization, including the involvement of time-consuming and multi-disciplinary quality evaluation processes, changing environments, surrogate model management, robustness. Many students and professors from Institute of Intelligent Machines joined the discussion.
Prof. JIN joined Honda R&D Europe in 1999,and was a principal scientist of Honda R&D from 2003 to 2010. He became the Chair of Computational Intelligence at the University of Surrey in 2010. He is currently a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of INNS, and serves as an Associate Editor of BioSystems, the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part C: Applications and Reviews, and IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine.
