Domestic Manufacturing Contract for ITER Feeder system was signed in Beijing between ITER China Domestic Agency (ITER DA) and ASIPP on Oct. 16th. ITER DA director Luo Delong and ASIPP director Li Jiangang signed this contract; vice-director of ITER DA Ding Mingqin hosted this signing ceremony. Mr. Devred Arnaud from ITER International Organization (ITER IO) and other leaders and principals of ITER procurement packages attended this ceremony.
During this ceremony, Luo highly praised ASIPP’s works in the Feeder system design, pre-manufacturing process of the key components, technology research, quality management and other aspects. Meanwhile, he said he believes ASIPP will successfully complete the manufacturing task of Feeder procurement package.
Feeder system is a lifeline to ensure the normal operation of ITER superconducting magnets. It mainly provides power supply, cryogenic cooling and diagnostics for the magnet system; it is believed to be one of the most difficult procurement packages to undertake as it involves superconductivity, low temperature, high voltage insulation, vacuum and material and many other fields; the structure is extremely complex, containing nearly 4 million parts, weighing nearly 1,600 tons. In the past 3 years, ASIPP has made achievements in Feeder system design, analysis, pre-research and experimental validation under the support by Ministry of Science & Technology; this has laid a solid foundation for Feeder full production.
