Distinguished Prof. Mohamed Abdou visited INEST FDS Team

Prof. Mohamed Abdou visited Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology, Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) ·FDS Team during Apr. 21 to 24, 2014.

Prof. Abdou is the distinguished professor and director of the center for energy science and technology, UCLA. He is the director of energy science and technology advanced research (CESTAR) and the leader of fusion nuclear technology and TBM of US. He proposed the concepts and ideas of fusion engineering test reactor firstly in 1996. He is also the chair of the international standing committee for fusion nuclear science and technology (FNST), and he promotes and leads many collaborative activities among the US, China, Europe, Russia, Japan and Korea.

Prof. Abdoudelivereda series of academic lecturesduring his visit, which attracted scientists and graduate students not only from INEST but also from University of Science and Technology of China and other institutes of CASHIPS.

Prof. Abdou shared his academic career and scientific achievement with the audience in his lectures named “the challenges on fusion TBM/FW and the key issues to be solved faced demonstration reactor in the short and medium term”, “the progress of fusion nuclear technology in China”.

Prof. Abdoualso visited the Advanced Nuclear Material and Reactor Technology Laboratory accompanied by Prof.Yican Wu, the leader of INEST·FDS Team.Advanced facilities andHigh-quality talent in FDS Team impressed Prof. Abdou greatly. He encouraged young researchers to explore novel methods and combine different fields of knowledge in their research.
