The PF AC/DC Converter, the biggest ITER procurement package undertaken by China, passes the Final Design Review (FDR) during the Beijing FDR meeting this September. ASIPP PF converter team prepared more than 50 reports and did 3 internal rehearsals for this review.

The review panel consists of 14 experts, and among which there were 11 representatives from ITER organization and EU. During the meeting, ASIPP engineers made reports on PF converter system analysis, components design, manufacture, RAMI analysis, installation layout design, test procedure design, and test results .etc. The review panel listened carefully and discussed detailed design with the engineers.

At last, the review panel appreciated the final design phase work, and PF AC/DC converter final design was approved by experts group without category 1 CHITS (1st level among the three, need to be modified).

According to current plan, CN team will complete first set of PF AC/DC Converter manufacture and all kind of test, then deliver it to ITER site in next year.

Background:

The PF AC/DC Converter, with high test requirements, is the biggest ITER procurement package undertaken by China, and also the first one to be designed, manufactured, tested and integrated in China.

After completing the primary design review in July 2012, the work team has devoted themselves to the final design. Till July 2014, they have built the test platforms, finished the design and manufacture of PF converter prototype, and completed all tests on PF converter, including 81 type tests, 66 routine tests, with the peak current at 430kA.
