QIAO Yanli

Prof. QIAO Yanli, Physics, Optics, Optical Remote Sensing Study, Research and Working Experience and Primary Achivements Professor Qiao started his academic work since 1977. He received a B.S. in Computer Communication from Beijing University of Post and Teleommunication in 1982, and a M.S. in Optics from Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1984.

Professor Qiao has been working in Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechnics , Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1984. He worked as a visiting scholar in Institute of Physical Chemistry of Japan, Chiba University in Japan, and French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA).

During his academic career, he served as team leader, Department Director and currently Professor, Ph.D. supervisor and Deputy Director of Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics. He is also the Chief Director of Key laboratory of Optical Calibration and Characterization, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 2011, joint professor at University of Science and Technology of China. In 1994 he developed Chinese vicarious calibration techniques and took part in the construction of Chinese Calibration Sites Technique System as the Chief technique PI, and won the Second Class Prize of The State Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2012.

He was pioneering in the development optical polarimetric remote sensing techniques since 2002, and won the First Class Prize of Natural Science Award of Beijing City in 2012. He has been a leading scientist since 2006 for techniques development of remote sensing of atmospheric components like aerosol, carbon dioxide, water vapor and methane, by means of airborne and space-borne directional polarimetric sensing and hyper-spectral detection.

As the Chief Engineer, he was in charge of development of National Scientific Grand Infrastructure “Airborne Remote Sensing System for Detection of Atmospheric Components” in 2010, with a goal to monitor atmospheric aerosol, fine particles (PM 10 and PM 2.5), pollutants and their column distributions. In 2011, he served as the Chief Administrator and was responsible for fabrication of two space-borne payloads, Directional Polarimetric Camera and Monitor of Primary Atmospheric Greenhouse Gases, which are scheduled to launch in 2016.
