Fusion Energy Research Agreement Signed Between Lebanese University and ASIPP, HFIPS

On Sept. 14, the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Institute of Plasma Physics (ASIPP), Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) of Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a cooperation agreement regarding the scientific research on nuclear fusion energy.

The signature ceremony took place at AUB. It was attended by AUB Provost Zaher Dawy, the Chinese ambassador to Lebanon Qian Minjian, the Director General of the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission Bilal Nsouli, and some officials and scholars from the two countries.

Representatives from ASIPP, HFIPS, including HU Jiansheng and LU Kun, deputy directors of ASIPP, and DONG Shaohua, head of the International Collaboration Division of HFIPS attended the ceremony remotely.

According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out extensive cooperation in the fields of plasma science and magnetic fusion, including joint experimental research and training of students, exchange of visits.

"Through this agreement, AUB and ASIPP will carry out more detailed collaborating activities, from fusion and plasma research to students training and scientists' exchange," said LU Kun via video.
