On May 17–18, the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), held the 2025 Public Science Day on Science Island under the theme "Exploring Science, Embracing the Future." The two-day event attracted over 60,000 visitors, setting a new attendance record.
This year, a wide range of major scientific facilities and labs were opened to the public, including the EAST, SHMFF, and several specialized research centers.
Highlights included interactive science shows, over 20 public lectures, hands-on experiments, and the debut of the upgraded Hefei Modern Science and Technology Museum. The island also hosted Hefei’s first youth video festival during the event.
More than 160 scientists and 290 volunteers participated, providing the public with a rare opportunity to engage directly with researchers.
At CHMFL exhibition hall, both adults and children are captivated by the magnetic levitation model train model.
The EAST hall draws many visitors.
