On June 9, international researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and their families gathered on Science Island to experience the customs behind one of China's most cherished traditional festivals - the Dragon Boat Festival - at the event organized by the International Collaboration Division of HFIPS.
The afternoon opened with a brief introduction to the festival and its traditions before participants headed outdoors to enjoy a variety of hands-on activities.
People tried their hand at making traditional mugwort door hangings and took part in pitch-pot and archery, two games inspired by ancient Chinese customs. The activity area quickly filled with laughter as participants compared their creations, tested their aim, and encouraged one another during the friendly competitions.
Beyond the games, the event offered a welcome chance to step away from work, spend time with family and friends, and meet members of the international community from across Science Island.
