On sept. 7, researchers saw another Earth observation satellite, Gaofen-5 02, launched in Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, Shanxi province. It’s a hyperspectral imaging satellite, capable of monitoring air pollution.
Among the 7 rideshare payloads on the satellite, four of them are from HFIPS.
They are Environmental Trace Gas Monitoring Instrument (EMI-II), Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Instrument (GMI-II), Directional Polarimetric Camera (DPC-II), Particulate Observing Scanning Polarization (POSP), which have been handed over one year ago. The four payloads can not only take a picture of the earth, but also obtain the rapid and accurate information of the earth's atmospheric sensitive components as well as to realize the comprehensive detection of air pollution, greenhouse gases, clouds and aerosols.
