The First Full Size Conductor of CRAFT Toroidal Field (TF) Coil Delivered Successfully

Oct 17, 2022 | By ZHU Lina, ZHAO Weiwei

The first full-size conductor of the CARFT toroidal field (TF) coil was delivered to CRAFT Campus on October 9, 2022. Prof. Li Jiangang, also chief commander of CRAFT Engineering Headquarters, together with some other engineers and scientists witnessed the moment.

The conductor, with a total length of 936.05 meters, is currently the largest and longest CICC conductor in the world.

The conductor fabrication task for CRAFT TF coil includes the manufacturing and testing of 1 verification conductor and 9 superconducting conductors. The delivered conductor is used to verify the conductor integration and coil winding technology.

The completion of the delivery marks that the conductor integration process has been verified and the subsequent TF superconducting conductor manufacturing can begin. Coil winding will be carried out in the near future to verify the coil winding manufacturing process.
