"Do you use Wechat pay? And do you have bank account?" asked Dario Mitnik who is an Argentine scientist coming to China one week ago with his son. Now his son is having Chinese class locally and for himself he is doing calculation for spectral analysis of fusion impurities on the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, EAST.
"Yes, I do. It's really convenient to go shopping with electronic pay. I use Wechat pay and Ali pay also everyday," replied Saklakova Viktoria, a Russian PhD interning on Science Island with a role to assist with international collaboration affairs. She showed the Argentine scientist how she pay electronically with these popular Apps when living in China.
All of these casual and small conversations happened in "Tri4 Coffee Time" which is one of the WE ARE ONE culture exploring and is regularly held at 4 p.m. on every fourth Thursday of every month.
"We organize this activity to build a platform for international experts on Science Island, especially those who are new here," explained TIAN Han, Deputy of International Collaboration Division of HFIPS, in his opening message.
The activity organizer, also the division managing international affairs and providing assistant to international experts, see "Tri4 Coffee Time" as a "meeting room" for international experts to make new friends even across disciplines and research units, a leg-up for them to get quick fit into life on Science Island.
This was the first "Tri4 Coffee Time" gathering which had over ten people who shared their experience on Science Island and also got some answer they want from each other.
