Associate Professor Mehdi Afshari Bavil from Raz University in Iran recently visited Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM), HFIPS, CAS.
At a welcoming ceremony on Apri. 19th, Xie Pinhua, deputy director of AIOFM, issued the letter of appointment of CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) to Associate Professor Mehdi Afshari Bavil.
He gave an report titled "Isoplasmon Optics: optical Control beyond the diffraction limit" where he discussed the concept and characteristics of plasmon optics, introduced passive and active components, and proposed the novel concept of plasmon lidar.
After the meeting, he had a discussion with teachers and students on academic issues.
Associate Professor Mehdi Afshari Bavil has previously carried out postdoctoral work at Peking University and served as a visiting scholar at the Semiconductor Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include surface plasma components, integrated plasma circuits, optoelectronic devices, and silicon-based photonics.
