Grigory Trubnikov Conferred Chinese Government Friendship Award

On Sept. 27, Ceremony of the Chinese Government Friendship was held in Beijing.

Grigory Trubnikov, an expert recommended by the Institute of Plasma Physics (ASIPP), Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and international partner, was presented the Chinese Government Friendship Award. He was also invited to speak as a representative of the recipients.

This award was for his contribution to the promotion of scientific cooperation between Joint Institute of Nuclear Research (JINR) and Chinese research facilities in superconducting technologies, atomic physics, and nuclear medicine.

In 2015, Grigory Trubnikov actively promoted the establishment of the Sino-Russian Superconducting Proton Center in Hefei, which officially landed the application of Sino-Russian superconducting proton scientific research technology industrialization. He has made important contributions to the close cooperation between the ASIPP and scientific research institutions such as JINR in Russia and the collaboration between the Chinese and Russian large-scale scientific devices EAST, Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, and NICA, Nuclotron-based Ion Collider facility.

"It is a great honor for me to be among the laureates of the Friendship Award of the People's Republic of China. I am very pleased that our joint work with the Institute of Plasma Physics, the Institute of Modern Physics, and the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has been awarded such a high honor. I think this award also enhances our confidence and trust in further strengthening the ties of scientific and technical cooperation between JINR of Russia, and China," said Grigory Trubnikov, "This award is a recognition of friendship, a high appreciation of cooperation, and the dialogue that the modern world needs."

Grigory Trubnikov is expert in large-scale accelerator physics and technology, and an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He has served as a science advisor to the Russian President and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Currently he is the Director of the Dubna Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the leader of the Russian Large Science and Engineering Project NICA based on superconducting particle accelerators.

The Friendship Award was established in 1991. It is the highest award to commend foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's modernization drive.
