Recently, the book Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells has been published by Walter De Gruyter, Berlin/Boston and China Science Publishing & Media Ltd.

The book, which was written by a research team led by Prof. HU Linghua from Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP), HFIPS, summarized the research results of the team in the field of dye-sensitized solar cells in the past two decades.

The eight chapters of the book includes working principles and development history, nano semiconductor materials, dye sensitizers, electrolyte, counter electrode, photoelectrochemistry of interface, structure design and performance simulation, performance test and module application.

Based on the principle of simulating photosynthesis in nature, photosensitive dye sensitizers were used to absorb sunlight in dye-sensi dye-sensitized solar cells, and enhance the photoelectric response of nano semiconductor materials to visible light through dye sensitization. Colorful solar cells by adjusting the molecular structure of dyes has a good application prospect in the fields of photovoltaic agriculture and photovoltaic building integration.

The research team has been focusing on the development of key materials, commercialization of large area dye sensitized solar cells and modules.

They obtained more than 10% conversion efficiency on 15cm × 20cm area large-area solar cells, and achieved about 15000h aging record under strong UV light indoor and 1000 days under outdoor natural environment for large-area solar cells.

In 2004 and 2011, the team established a 500W demonstration power station and a 0.5 MW polit test demonstration line respectively.
