Given the importance and complexity of the aerosol effects on the atmospheric radiative transfer, it is also important to study the impact of heavy aerosol loads on the MAXDOAS inversion algorithm.
Peroxy radicals (RO2) are very important reaction intermediates in the oxidation of atmospheric chemistry and combustion. Their reactions can lead to the formation of a great deal of secondary pollutants such as ozone and secondary organic aerosols, taking a large influence on the atmospheric environment and human health and attracting attentions in the past decades. In particular, with the increase of their mass, the structure of peroxy radicals becomes complex, usually taking several isomers or conformers. The knowledge on the isomers or conformers of peroxy radicals is very limited, and identifying them is still a challenge.
The improvement of high-repetition-rate Nd:YAG laser performances is still a long-standing challenge, although many novel architectures of the laser have been developed. High concentrations of Nd3+ crystals will bring serious thermal effects, possible concentration quenching at strong pump power. However, the high conversion efficiency is difficult to obtain for crystals with low concentrations of Nd3+.
China's 12th Arctic scientific expedition, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, returned to Shanghai on Sept. 28 on board XueLong 2. The team set sail from Shanghai on July 12, covering a total distance of 14,000 sea miles in 79 days.
A new permanent magnet design of quasi-axisymmetric stellarator was made by research team led by Prof. XU Guosheng from Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. And the “two-step” magnet design strategy they proposed further validated the practicability of this method and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent design of standardized magnet.
