Recently, a research team led by YU Jie and CHEN Zhibin, Institute of Nuclear Safety Technology, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS), has made a new progress in researching physical properties of working fluids in space reactor nuclear power generation system.
CAS embraces its big scientific public outreach each May. They call it the CAS Science Week. It means at a certain weekend in May, every CAS institute launches its brand public outreach campaign in different ways to show and tell the public what is science and how science changes our lives. We have the volunteer team in HFIPS telling the story of science island. Here we have FANG Ming from The High Magnetic Field Laboratory (CHMFL), HFIPS to tell us more... This is the third of an every-two-day series in two weeks.
Recently, scientists from Institute of Solid State Physics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) utilized valence engineering to develop three manganese oxides as electrodes with different Mn valences for high-performance capacitive desalination. Reverse osmosis and thermal distillation are widely used to treat salt water with high salt concentration, but limited by high energy consumption and high cost.
More people are getting vaccinated on science island On May. 24, a temporary vaccination site was set on science island to provide on-site inoculations of covid-19 shot, free of charge. Students and Staff of Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS), took the chance to get vaccinated, building protection from the pandemic.
Recently, the research team led by Prof. KONG Lingtao at Institute of Solid State Physics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science successfully prepared a highly active single iron atom catalyst (Fe-ISAs@CN) for activating H2O2 to generate free radicals, achieving rapid removal of sulfadiazine pollutants in aqueous. The relevant results were published in Journal of Colloid and Interface Science.
