May 14, 2024 | By ZHAO Weiwei

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations, the Sino-French Scientific Cooperation Exhibition was held in Paris from May 6 to 7, during President Xi Jinping's visit to France. Highlighting the theme " Fusion of EAST and WEST Lights up the Future ", the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science and their French counterparts showcased their collaborative achievements in nuclear fusion.

The exhibition, co-hosted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology and France's Ministry of Higher Education and Research, reviewed the history of Sino-French cooperation since the 1978 intergovernmental science and technology cooperation agreement. It focused on significant developments in personnel exchanges, platform construction, and joint achievements in aerospace, fundamental research, agriculture, energy, environment, and biomedicine, while also envisioning future cooperation.

For over 40 years, HFIPS and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) have collaborated deeply in fusion energy research, establishing joint laboratories and the Sino-French Fusion Joint Center.
