The Directional Polarimetric Camera (DPC), developed by Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM), Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) and loaded on Gao Fen-5 Satellite, is a satellite sensor with the aim to observe the polarization and directionality of the earth’s reflectance. The multi-angle polarization information is helpful to obtain the spatial distribution of target radiation.
Recently, Prof. ZHENG Xiaohong’s research group in the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP), Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS), proposed a new and robust route to achieve pure spin current by photogalvanic effect with two-dimensional centrosymmetrical antiferromagnets. The research has been published in npj Quantum Information.
Histone acetylation is an important epigenetic modification. Histone deacetylase inhibitor (HDACi) can increase acetylation level and inhibit the proliferation and metastasis of cancer cells. Besides, ionizing radiation can take advantage of it to kill cancer cells. Thus investigation of the effects of epigenetic modifications on radiation sensitivity has been attracting much attention in the field of radiation biology.
A team of researchers led by WANG Zhenzhu from Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM), Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS), together with their international collaborator from Institute of Atmospheric Optics (IAO) developed a prospective method for retrieving the cloud microphysics, which marked an important improvement on theory of lidar and radar exploring of cirrus clouds.
Recently, a research group led by Prof. YU Jie and CHEN Zhibin at the Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology, Hefei Institute of Physical Science (HFIPS) made important progress in the safety research of liquid Lead-Lithium blanket in fusion reactors after investigating pressure wave behavior and its effects.
