Ion Bio-engineering

    Laboratory of Ion Beam Bioengineering is engaged in research on interaction between low-energy ions and the organism. Recent advances have opened new areas of study in the field of life sciences, such as the role of low-energy ions in the chemical origin and evolution of life, the health risk of low-dose radiation in the environment, and the application of ion beam to genetic modification. The lab will be a center of ion beam bioengineering research in the world and of biological effect research by single particle in China.

生物-艾兰得.jpg (27275 bytes) A new strain for producing Vitamin C, selected from the mutants of a microbe induced by low-energy ions, the transformation rate of L-sorbose to Z-Keto-L-gulonic acid is 97% in gram-molecule in 180-ton fermentor.
A opposite maize obtained by ion beam nutation(right) is normal maize.
