Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Brazilian Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN) signed a cooperation agreement on April 9th. The agreement focuses on expanding the ANSO Atmospheric Observation Network, which is part of GAONet, the Global Aerosol-Cloud-Precipitation Observation Network, to Brazil.
Recently, Dr. HUO Zhipeng and his student LU Yidong from Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences created a new type of composite material for shielding against neutron and gamma radiation. They used micron plate Sm2O3, a type of rare earth-based filler, to reinforce boron-containing polyethylene.
Recently, a research team led by Prof. HUANG Qing at the Institute of Intelligent Machines, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS) found a new mechanism by which Astaxanthin (AST) can target IL-6 and thus reduce LPS-induced adverse inflammatory response in macrophages.
Recently, Researchers from Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences, successfully constructed a three-dimensional(3D) lung cell model. They used solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME-GC-MS) non-targeted assay to obtained differential volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released by lung cancer and lung epithelial cells in both two-dimensional(2D) and (three-dimensional) 3D states.
A research group led by Prof. WANG Rujing and Assoc. Prof. CHEN Xiangyu from Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with Prof. HONG Yan’s research group from Anhui University of Science and Technology, has recently developed a novel microfluidic chip with capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C4D) integrated 3D microelectrodes. This is to rapidly and quantitatively determine abundant nutrient ions in soil.
